I
realized that I never posted my Mother’s Day gifts for you to see, so I
thought I would share them now. (Better late than never I suppose.
LOL!) I found a really great new company called Origami Owl
that sells what they call “Living Lockets.” The idea is that you
purchase a locket with customized charms to go inside. The lockets open
so that you can change your charms whenever you like. I ordered one for
both my mom and my mother-in-law. My mother-in-law’s locket has 6 charms
representing her 6 grandchildren, each with their birthstones inside. My
mom’s locket has 3 grandchildren charms, a coffee cup, a heart that says
“family,” and a tiny book that says “Love to read,” all representing
things that she loves.
Of course I had to purchase a locket for myself as well ( I couldn’t resist). Mine has a pink crystal heart (for CTMH), a little boy and a little girl for my kids, a silver heart that says “family,” and an ithicus fish representing my Christian faith. I receive compliments on it every time I wear it. I have purchased lockets for my daughter’s teachers for end of the year gifts also. In fact, I have ordered so many lockets that I am thinking about signing up with the company so that I can get a discount on my future purchases. (They make such great gifts.) They currently have a sign-up freeze in place right now, but I have a little inside info if you are interested in signing up and getting a discount on your lockets too. Feel free to contact me if you’d like more info on their products or the company.
Because the jewelry comes packaged in an adorable Chinese take out box and a little fortune cookie coin purse, I wanted to make a card that coordinates. I used a piece of the Dotty for You paper and my Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge to make the fun fortune cookie card to match. I cut a 5-1/2″ circle out of the paper and then slipped a strip of white paper inside with the Mother’s Day message. Then I pinched the sides together and added a little adhesive in the middle to hold it closed. Here are some other samples of paper fortune cookies I have made in the past.
too cute Lisa! What a great way to package them.
